THE CEREMONY AT THE MUSEUM

On the occasion of the Museum Day, which is celebrated every September 30, we award letters of thanks to all those who have helped us in our work as donors or collaborators in the past year. We use the day of our museum as an occasion to officially thank the donors and associates of our institution.

This year, we set up the Museum’s website, in which we received immeasurable help and support from the Blago Fund and its director, and our fellow citizen, Mr. Nenad Vukićević, as well as the IT expert of the Fund, Mr. Vladimir Acimovic. Therefore, with the greatest pleasure, we awarded the Letter of Thanks of the Regional Museum of Jagodina to Nenad Vukićević, Vladimir Aćimović and the Blago Fund.

After a long break in the exhibition activity imposed on us by the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, at the beginning of September we opened an exceptional exhibition of drawings by Ljubodrag Janković Jale, one of the most important contemporary artists and former professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts. After the exhibition, Professor Janković donated a drawing to our museum. This year, Ljubodrag Janković Jale was awarded a Letter of Thanks for his long-term cooperation with our institution and contribution to the enrichment of the Painting Collection. This exhibition would not have existed without the help and support of the Mihajlović-Phoenix Foundation and its founder, Mr. Mića Mihajlović, who is also this year’s winner of the Letter of Thanks of the Regional Museum.

Every year, those who have enriched the collections of our museum with their gift take a special place on the list of Thanksgiving prizes. This year it is Mr. Ljubodrag Paunović and Mr. Sasa Lukic.

The Regional Museum in Jagodina, as an institution for the protection of movable cultural property, has been constantly working to raise awareness about the preservation of cultural heritage since its founding. A big problem is the looting and destruction of archeological sites, and one of the most endangered archeological site under the protection of the state in our region is the multi-layered fortification “Jerinin grad”, on the border of Staro Selo and Donji Mišević. In order to prevent the devastation of this important locality at the beginning of July 2021,  on the initiative of the Mayor of Jagodina, Mr. Ratko Stevanović, on the instructions of the police, and with the selfless help of representatives of the hunting association “Crni vrh” and PE “Standard”, two info boards were set up at the foot of the site “Jerinin grad “in Staro selo. The signs, since they contain warning and prohibition signs for illegal excavations, were placed at the approach to the site and in the protection zone below the fortifications. Mr. Dejan Ilić from Stari selo, Mr. Milivoje Janićijević from Jagodina, Mr. Ivan Janićijević and Mr. Miloš Ivanović from the Hunting Association “Crni vrh” in Jagodina, as well as Mr. Dragan Ilić from Jagodina helped us to set up those boards.

The Regional Museum in Jagodina would like to once again thank all our associates and donors who contributed and supported our work. At the same time, this is an invitation to our fellow citizens to continue our cooperation, with the goal of preserving the past of our homeland from oblivion for generations to come.
