This year marks the 70th anniversary of the book “The Fellowship of the Ring”, the first volume of the famous trilogy “The Lord of the Rings”, authored by the English writer and linguist John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. All over the world, fans of Tolkien and his works are celebrating this anniversary, and we will do the same in Jagodina.<\/p>

In cooperation with our fellow citizen Stanko Ljubani\u0107, editor-in-chief of the Literary Society “Mitopeja” and with the presence of special guests, members of the Tolkien Society of Serbia, an evening dedicated to “The Lord of the Rings” will be organized in the Regional Museum of Jagodina on Monday, July 29, starting at 7:30 p.m. The books also got a cinematic dimension when director Peter Jackson turned Tolkien’s words into a movie image. The film “The Lord of the Rings” became the most awarded film trilogy in the history of the American Film Academy, because it was awarded with 17 Oscars (the first part with four, the second with two and the third with even eleven).<\/p>

When the eccentric Hobbit Bilbo Baggins suddenly magically disappears at his 111th birthday party in front of the stunned guests, a chain of events will be set in motion in the idyllic Shire that will shake the entire Middle World and determine its fate. Bilbo, in fact, decided to spend the rest of his life in the elven kingdom of Rivendell, and left all his possessions to his young cousin Frodo Baggins, including the mysterious ring that makes its wearer invisible. But as he says goodbye to his old friend Gandalf, this powerful wizard realizes that Bilbo’s ring is much more than a prop for hobbit tricks… And so begins an epic tale of forgotten and reinvented times when Men, Wizards, Elves, Dwarves and Hobbits walked the earth.<\/p>

At the evening dedicated to “The Lord of the Rings” together with Stanko Ljubani\u0107, we will bring Tolkien’s world to life, and then we will watch a short documentary dedicated to this most important writer of epic fantasy, prepared by Mr. Ljubani\u0107.<\/p>
