The Regional Museum of Jagodina is coming to an end with another successful year, and we will remember with great pride and pleasure the events that marked it.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

At the end of February, we opened the exhibition \u201eFormal and Ideological in Figure and Abstraction – Sculpture from the Regional Museum of Jagodina\u201c, which was conceived as an encounter between the public and museum holdings that had not been exhibited before, but also with those works that represent valuable achievements of several significant creators of this artistic branch.<\/p>

During the spring and summer, we presented the decades-long work of the Archaeological Department on the research of archaeological sites in the territory of our city from all periods of the past, from the Early Neolithic to the Late Middle Ages. First, the exhibition \u201eFrom Dawn to Dusk\u201c presented the results of the first two campaigns (2022\u20132023) of the project \u201eSystematic Archaeological Prospection of the Jagodina Region\u201c, funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, and implemented by experts from the Regional Museum of Jagodina and the Belgrade Archaeological Institute. Then, the exhibition \u201eOn the Past of Jagodina through Archaeological Testimonies\u201c was opened, which presented the most significant and beautiful objects from the archaeological collections of the Regional Museum of Jagodina that were found on the soil of the city of Jagodina itself. The Archaeological Department continued its research of the Jagodina region this year. We entered the summer with a new management of the Museum, when Du\u0161an Markovi\u0107 took over as acting director of the institution, on whose initiative the event \u201eSummer in the Museum\u201c was launched and summer working hours were introduced when the museum was open to visitors until 9 p.m. During the summer, we organized several events that were extremely visited. First, the \u201eVidovdan evening\u201c, and then, in cooperation with our fellow citizen Stanko Ljubani\u0107 and the Literary Society \u201eMitopeja\u201c, of which he is the editor-in-chief, we marked the 70th<\/sup> anniversary of the publication of “The Fellowship of the Ring”, the first volume of the famous trilogy \u201eThe Lord of the Rings\u201c by the English writer and linguist John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. At the end of the \u201eSummer at the Museum\u201c, we hosted an exhibition about the Second Balkan War, authored by professor Dejan Anti\u0107, current State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>

The Regional Museum of Jagodina also participated in the celebration of the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the Comedy Days festival by organizing the exhibition “Comedy Days Festival – Beginnings and Duration (1969\u20131972\u20132023)” in cooperation with the Cultural Center.<\/p>

During the summer, we received a large number of visitors from various cities in Serbia but also from the Republika Srpska, and we also participated in the city’s tourist event \u201eOpen Day\u201c.<\/p>

Autumn was marked by the celebration of the 70th<\/sup> anniversary of the Regional Museum of Jagodina. On this occasion, a grand ceremony was held, where special certificates and letters of appreciation were presented to the associates, donors and benefactors of our institution. A solo exhibition of the academic artist Sretko Divljan was also opened, marking 50 years of his life and work in Jagodina. The choir of the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences and the students of the School for Musical Talents from \u0106uprija were responsible for the beautiful atmosphere.<\/p>

At the end of the exhibition season, we hosted the Historical Archive, which presented its new publication \u201eGreetings from Jagodina – on the postal history of Jagodina (1843\u20131945)\u201c and the exhibition \u201ePostal History and Postcards of Jagodina\u201c in our gallery, which present the valuable philatelic collection of Predrag Anti\u0107.<\/p>

With the help of the Ministry of Culture and the City of Jagodina, the Regional Museum received new photo equipment worth one million dinars, and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, the publishing activity of our museum is richer for three new publications presenting the legacy of the painter Nikola Milojevi\u0107, glass objects from the Museum’s collections, and archaeological research of Jerina’s town in the village of Vojska near Svilajnac. These publications will be promoted during the next year.<\/p>

In the coming year, many interesting events are planned, of which we will announce an important and long-awaited retrospective exhibition of Ilija Ika Vuki\u0107evi\u0107, which scheduled for April 24, 2025.<\/p>

This was just part of the activities of the Regional Museum of Jagodina during the past year. We thank all donors and numerous associates and friends of our institution who have helped us in our dedicated work to preserve the past and cultivate culture.<\/p>

Finally, a notice that the holidays will be January 1, 2, 6 and 7, 2025. On other days, the Museum will be opened according to normal working hours: weekdays from 8 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm.<\/p>
