Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Regional Museum in Jagodina received funds from this year’s competition for museum heritage to prepare an exhibition of icons and publish a complete catalogue of the Icon Collection. All artifacts from this collection have been systematically reseacrhed, restored, and conserved over the past years. The catalogue will be the fifth in a series of publications by which the Museum publishes the contents of specific collections, following the previously published catalogues of the Collections of Chilandari Manuscript Fragments, Guild Letters, Glassware, and Legacy of the Painter Nikola Milojević.

As a fitting announcement of the upcoming exhibition, the Regional Museum is now publishing an electronic edition dedicated to the study of an unusual specimen from the collection, a double-sided icon on a wooden board, depicting the Virgin Mary Threnodousa on one side and the Flowering Cross with the cryptograms on the other. On this occasion, we express our deep gratitude to the peer reviewers, Dr. Svetlana Pejić and Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Mutafov.
