On the occasion of today’s Vidovdan holiday, yesterday in the Regional Museum Vidovdan evening was held in front of a large audience. In the past, this day was celebrated as a memorial to the Battle of Kosovo, and today it is a national holiday, established in memory and respect for all those who fought for the homeland throughout history.
Our museum opens the summer season on this Vidovdan evening, and with the program that has been arranged, we have evoked the medieval period in what was then a little town Jagodna. We were helped in this by the special guests at this ceremony, the “Black Bear” knight’s troupe, and the program was completed by the choir of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, which performed under the direction of Mrs. Ljiljana Mileusnić Marković.
After the welcome speech of Acting Director of the Regional Museum of Jagodina Dušan Marković, the curators Smiljana Dodić, archaeologist, museum advisor, and Duško Grbović, historian, museum advisor, spoke about the medieval period in these areas and presented the medieval cultural heritage that our museum preserves in its funds.
