MINERALOGY COLLECTION
The largest number of specimens and the most representative ones originates from the Stari Trg (Trepča) mine, one of the most important lead and zinc mines in Europe. Specimens of crystals of marmatite (iron rich variety of sphalerite) and calcite with rhodochrosite and pyrite stand out for their beauty and attractiveness. The Collection also includes minerals representing a part of the geodiversity of Pomoravlje which can be found in our surroundings. These minerals occur in crystalline schists of the Serbo-Macedonian massif, such as the exceptional, large foiled aggregates of muscovite from Juhor or quartz specimens from Crni vrh where it occurs in the form of imposing quartz veins. Along their obvious aesthetic value, these minerals are also of great educational importance.
